{"id":923,"date":"2016-10-25T12:53:04","date_gmt":"2016-10-25T12:53:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.eprints.org\/uk\/?page_id=923"},"modified":"2018-10-30T13:12:24","modified_gmt":"2018-10-30T13:12:24","slug":"orcid-support","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/uk.eprints-hosting.org\/uk\/index.php\/ingredients\/orcid-support\/","title":{"rendered":"ORCID Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"western\">We are pleased to announce the release of a new EPrints Bazaar plugin \u2013 <b><a href=\"http:\/\/bazaar.eprints.org\/468\/\" target=\"_blank\">ORCID Support<\/a><\/b> \u2013 offering the groundwork for future ORCID integration with EPrints.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">The plugin arrives in the wake of Liz Jennings&#8217; and Helen Cooper&#8217;s report,\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/opus.bath.ac.uk\/52526\/\" target=\"_blank\">ORCID EPrints Implementation Survey Analysis<\/a>\u201d, \u00a0the \u201cORCID API and use case workshop: Jisc UK consortium member\u2019s event\u201d held in Birmingham earlier this month, and the subsequent hackday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">At present, <b><a href=\"http:\/\/bazaar.eprints.org\/468\/\" target=\"_blank\">ORCID Support<\/a><\/b> offers basic ORCID integration, adding new fields to user profiles and to EPrint fields such as Creators or Editors. In keeping with the community&#8217;s request we&#8217;ve aimed to keep this configurable so the field is only added to the fields where desired.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">The new fields are ORCID aware, allowing the values entered to be displayed as links to ORCID profile pages, and check the contents of the field to ensure a valid ORCID has been entered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\">Along with these new fields, <b><a href=\"http:\/\/bazaar.eprints.org\/468\/\" target=\"_blank\">ORCID Support<\/a><\/b> provides a report (made available via the <a href=\"http:\/\/bazaar.eprints.org\/391\/\">Generic Reporting Framework<\/a>) highlighting which users do and do not have an ORCID attached to their user profile \u2013 a feature added by popular request following the community&#8217;s discussion at the ORCID API and use case workshop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"western\"><b><a href=\"http:\/\/bazaar.eprints.org\/468\/\" target=\"_blank\">ORCID Support<\/a><\/b> is currently a work in progress and we will be looking to add further functionality in due course.
